E.on said that electricity supply is not being disrupted by the ongoing strikes against the company. A total of E.on 7,000 workers walked off the job on Jan. 14, 2013, with the industrial action taking place mainly in northern Germany.

Trade unions Ver.di and IG BCE are pushing for a 6.5% pay raise for about 30,000 employees at E.on, whose latest offer of an 1.1% wage increase had been rejected by the labor representatives as unacceptable. A new negotiations round starts on Jan. 15, 2013 in Hanover.

Should no agreement be reached, workers will go on indefinite strike.
