Structural and headcount adjustments required at German locations

EnviTec Biogas expects to generate clearly lower sales in 2013

Lohne, 28 January 2013 - During the current year the low demand for biogas plants will lead to a significant sales decrease in EnviTec Biogas AG's Plant Construction business which cannot be fully compensated by the company's Own Plant Operation, Service and Energy segments. In light of the lower level of sales expected for 2013, the Executive Board has therefore decided to launch substantial adjustments to the Plant Construction segment's structures and headcount.

"We very much regret having to cut just under 70 positions and losing staff both in Lohne and Saerbeck," said Olaf von Lehmden, Chairman of the Executive Board of EnviTec Biogas. While the redundancies will primarily occur in the area of implementation, there will also be cuts in administration and other areas. In addition, all international branches will be reviewed in terms of sustainability and efficiency in the coming weeks.

"The coming into force of Germany's Renewable Energies Act (EEG) at the beginning of 2012 triggered a dramatic slump in domestic demand. Moreover, even the new framework continues to be put into question by politicians, leading to a lack of political and economic planning certainty. In the international markets, too, we are exposed to constant changes in local legal frameworks, which makes it imperative for us to become even more flexible and operate even more efficiently," Mr von Lehmden continued, adding that a sustainable positioning of the company was an indispensable prerequisite for the company's continued competitiveness and profitability in the new market environment.

The Lohne-based company expects to report positive earnings on Group sales of between EUR 170 and 180 million for the current financial year.
