LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - About 50 Entergy Arkansas, Inc. linemen plus additional support personnel are traveling south as a winter storm threatens parts of Entergy's service territory in Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The Entergy Arkansas travel teams will join more than 2,600 restoration workers in anticipation of ice-related outages.

A blast of arctic air is expected to bring up to 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation and 1/8 to 3/8 inches of ice or more to areas where a mix of precipitation persists in southeast Texas, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, New Orleans and into south Louisiana and south Mississippi.

"This unusual winter storm has the potential to be one of the most challenging our sister utilities in Louisiana have seen in recent years, and we're prepared to come to their aid--just as they did, most recently, during our December ice storm," said Brady Aldy, vice president, customer service for Entergy Arkansas.

Travel teams were told to pack for 5 to 7 days as power restoration may extend for 3 to 5 days for some customers in the hardest hit areas. Teams are being staffed from across the state so there will be a sufficient number of workers to tend to normal activities in Arkansas.
