Engie announces the signature of a long-term contract with Arkema, starting January 1, 2023, for the supply of 300 GWh/year of renewable biomethane in France. This agreement represents one of the largest private biomethane purchase contracts in Europe to date," says the company.

Through its Engie Global Energy Management & Sales ( Engie GEMS) entity, Engie will supply Arkema with 3 TWh of biomethane under this 10-year partnership, to support the group's decarbonization initiative.
The aim is to reduce 'very significantly' the carbon footprint of Arkema's high-performance biobased polyamides Rilsan® polyamide 11 and Pebax® Rnew®.

This agreement will also support the acceleration of the biomethane sector, in which Engie is already a major player in France," adds Engie.
