SAN ANTONIO, TX and BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/25/12 -- OpenADR Alliance, a nonprofit corporation created to foster the development, adoption, and compliance of the Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) smart grid standard, today announced from DistribuTECH (Booth #4029) that EnerNOC will host a two-day interoperability test event for the OpenADR 2.0 Profile Specification at its Boston, MA headquarters. During the event, which runs from January 31 through February 1, 2012, members of the OpenADR Alliance will conduct critical connectivity tests between servers and clients and perform dispatch scheduling, cancellation, and modification trials. These tests are designed to refine the OpenADR standard further and increase its ability to lower the cost, improve the reliability, and accelerate the speed of Automated Demand Response (AutoDR) implementations.

"Collaboration and thorough testing are essential to creating strong smart grid standards like OpenADR 2.0," said Hugh Scandrett, EnerNOC's Vice President of Engineering. "EnerNOC has built the world's largest demand response portfolio. That's why we are fully invested in creating robust standards that meet the needs of both energy users and utilities. OpenADR 2.0 represents a significant step forward for the standard's communications technology, and we will be working with the Alliance's membership to continue to improve it over time."

EnerNOC will host the OpenADR Alliance leadership, as well as other member firms and organizations that will be participating in the PlugFest. A full list of Alliance members is available at .

"After two very positive PlugFest events in 2011, we are looking forward to another opportunity to put OpenADR 2.0 to the test at EnerNOC'sBoston headquarters," said Rolf Bienert, Technical Director of the OpenADR Alliance. "As we continue to drive the rapid deployment of OpenADR 2.0, events like this one facilitate the essential collaborative engineering work necessary to refine the testing and certification requirements that will ultimately lead to interoperable products."

The OpenADR 2.0 technology is based on the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS) and builds on the successful OpenADR 1.0 specification supported by over 60 organizations worldwide. The OpenADR Alliance will provide utilities, Independent System Operators (ISOs), regulators, and controls suppliers with a selection of certified OpenADR 2.0 products for cost-effective demand response implementation. The OpenADR 2.0 Profile Specification is set for release in the first half of 2012.
