Chairman Sultan Bin Sulayem underlines close links through
Rotterdam development project
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, January 10, 2012:- Her Majesty Queen Beatrix Wilhemina Armgard of the Netherlands accompanied by HE Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman, DP World, visited yesterday (January 9), the flagship Jebel Ali Port in Dubai, as part of her state visit to the UAE.
They discussed the expanding investment and trade relations
binding the UAE and the Netherlands, where DP World is
developing a new container terminal at Maasvlakte 2 at the
Port of Rotterdam in partnership with four shipping lines and
the Port of Rotterdam.
The royal delegation included HRH the Heir Apparent,
Willem-Alexander, Prince of Orange, HRH Princess Maxima, HE
Gerard Michels, the Dutch Ambassador to the UAE accompanied
by HE Reem Al Hashimi, UAE Minister of State.
The delegation was received by Mr. Bin Sulayem and HE Jamal
Majid Bin Thaniah, Group CEO, Port & Free Zone World, and
Vice Chairman, DP World, Mohammed Sharaf, Chief Executive
Officer, DP World, Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President
and Managing Director, DP World, UAE Region and other DP
World officials.
The Queen inspected the flagship port's state of the art
facilities and was briefed on the gate automation and other
initiatives taken by DP World to constantly improve
operational efficiencies.

Under a concession signed in 2007, the consortium consisting
of DP World, Mitsui
OSK Lines, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Neptune Orient Lines and
CMA CGM will
equip and operate the first terminal in the Maasvalakte 2
development at the Port of
Rotterdam.
The DP World terminal will have a 1900-metre long deep sea
quay with a depth of 20 metres, capable of handling
next-generation mega container vessels. In addition, it will
have a 550-metre quay for inland shipping and feeder
vessels.
