Newsroom 1/20/2012 - Matchlight wins first commission for ITV1, expands client base Scotland based independent producer Matchlight, a joint venture with DCD Media, has won its first commission for ITV1 with a new film 'Lenny Henry: Finding Shakespeare', presented by comedian and actor Lenny Henry for ITV1's factual strand Perspectives. The one hour documentary follows Lenny Henry who, as a teenager and aspiring comedian from a black working class community in Dudley, had a deep-seated aversion to Shakespeare and his "gobble-de-gook" language. Yet now he is one of the Bard's most passionate fans, starring in a new National Theatre production of Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors", and wants the rest of us to "get" Shakespeare the way he now does. Executive Producer for Matchlight is Ross Wilson and Producer/Director is Elizabeth Dobson. The programme will be sold internationally by DCD Rights and is due to transmit on ITV1 later this year. Matchlight's roaster of clients now includes all the major broadcasters in the UK including BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
