At embedded world in Nuremberg, DATA MODUL AG, one of the global leaders in technology, will be using its extended stand to exhibit products relating to displays, display optimization and embedded visual solutions. The extra exhibition space will be used this year to present the core competence of optical bonding in a more differentiated manner. Now with four different bonding procedures (LOCA, OCA lamination, air gap bonding and gel bonding), DATA MODUL is the only company to offer all the important adhesive options in-house, enabling it to supply the right display optimization for any industrial demand, even in the more demanding industries such as the medical sector. Models of all four procedures will be shown for the first time at embedded world.

Robotic telepresence
The BeamPro® 2 is the result of a development cooperation between DATA MODUL and the Californian technology company Suitable Technologies. It is a telepresence robot which makes it possible to visually and acoustically depict conference / meeting participants in the form of a mobile HMI monitor solution when they cannot be present. A number of sensors, microphones, PCAP easyTOUCH and other interfaces and features enable direct participation and have now been reinstalled in the new version of the successful BeamPro and / or jointly optimized. The basis for this is formed by a newly developed COM Express Baseboard together with the latest, high-performance Intel® Core™ i5 CPU of the seventh generation in DATA MODUL's COM Express module. The result will be communicating with visitors at embedded world.

PCAP touch displays with haptic feedback and Force Touch
DATA MODUL will also provide two of the latest versions of touch operation to be tested by exhibition visitors: THE on-trend PCAP Touch optimization Force and 3D-Touch. With this touch development, recognition of a change to the Z-axis and the finger/hand/contact pressure strength are crucial. Depending on the pressure strength, the interaction occurs on the touch surface. As such: different strengths mean different signals. As a result, a menu level can be expanded many times over and additional operating options are created on the interface. DATA MODUL will be exhibiting an industrial PCAP Force Touch solution at embedded world, in which evaluation occurs using power sensors which have been integrated into the periphery of the touch sensor.
In addition, a touch panel with haptic feedback will be presented. Using direct power reassignment, each touch interaction will be shown to the user for confirmation on the touch sensor. A tangible feedback in the form of vibrations then reflects the position of the finger on the sensor. To ensure such feedback, the user interface was integrated into the housing as a floating installation. Especially in medical applications, in which the user must focus constantly on the patient, for example, this touch function can be extremely beneficial, as visual contact with the monitor is not required. This expansion to include haptic feedback could also support visually-impaired people in the future, for example on local public transport (ticket purchasing) or when entering sensitive information (cash machine). Up to now, acoustic signals have been relied upon.

Hardware with high-performance features
A wide range of monitor solutions is being presented, including the updated version of the stylish, ultra-thin 18.5' monitor with USB Type C from a Sharp LCD display with 1920x1080 pixel full HD resolution in 16:9 format and connected with an internally developed easy-Touch sensor solution. The touchscreen was optically bonded to cured 3-mm front glass in-house at DATA MODUL and is impervious to disinfectants and cleaning agents. Equipped with an internally developed eMotion USB Type C with alternating mode, a standardized but also scalable monitor concept is created, while also being the thinnest OpenFrame monitor in the DATA MODUL portfolio. In addition, DATA MODUL is presenting a 15.6' Panel PC in portrait format, equipped with PCAP, RFID, sound and barcode scanner.

DATA MODUL is exhibiting ORTUSTECH's latest expansions: including the most recent, high-resolution, compact and ultra-light 5' TFT displays like the COM50H5N03ULC for mobile and automotive applications. Equipped with Blanview 2 technology, all panels by the Japanese manufacturer ORTUSTECH are particularly resistant to sunlight and can also be viewed from all lines of vision, even in direct sunlight. The HD 720x1280 dot resolution provides sharp images, brilliant colors and high contrast levels. In addition to the 5' panels 4.3' and 4.8' diagonals can be seen exclusively at the DATA MODUL stand at embedded world.

MiP displays - an alternative for continuous use
Due to the massive demand, there is still a particular focus on Memory in Pixel (MiP) displays at DATA MODUL. The company will be presenting the reflective panels in color and in a variety of diagonals. The energy-saving MIP displays are particularly suitable for displays with rather static content, such as digital price tags (ESL), PoI, PoS, in wearables and in information systems, e.g. in public rooms and surgeries. Those who can't/won't forgo battery operation and/or those whose application is exposed to a very light environment can find out about a range of diagonals with full HD resolution and very low power consumption on the exhibition stand. In comparison to transmissive LCD displays, there can be an approx. 80% energy saving when using reflective displays due to the unnecessary backlighting.

LCD controller boards for special requirements
The DATA MODUL controller board eMotion series is taking advance of a number of industry trends in Nuremberg. The demand for high resolution (UHD and 4K) and the desire for monitor solutions with as few interfaces as possible -especially in the embedded sector- have prompted the DATA MODUL specialists to develop a high-end controller board for high-resolution 4K displays. This controller board will be exhibited, as well as the eMotion USB, which makes it possible to obtain display, touch, audio and power supply simultaneously through a single standard cable. Design aspects play an important role here: Compacter and flatter device designs and the corresponding types of installation are possible with the plug miniaturization. The growing demand for state-of-the-art design in the industrial sector is taken into account here.

Display refinement brand easyTOUCH in multi-stage model
Due to the individual requirements of industrial customers, DATA MODULE, as the leader in technology in the field of optical bonding, has developed a demand-based stage system. Visitors can find out about the individual bundles for the professional sector at the trade fair. While the easyTOUCH core brand allows for a package of customer-specific cover glass, bonded, projected capacitive touch sensor and adjusted touch controller for panels up to 32', the easyTOUCH DISPLAY includes standardized and individual touch solutions with assembled industrial TFT displays in three categories: Entry, Advanced and Professional level. DATA MODUL will present these categories at embedded world based on price-sensitive panel solutions and highly-specialized applications in industry, some of which are subject to certification.
