Extensive tier one supplier heritage provides aftermarket customers access to latest OE technology, service solutions and testing equipmentRelease Date: October 11, 2011

PARIS — Delphi Automotive is expanding its training services in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) with new and upgraded facilities, a unique "Train the Trainer" program, and individualized technician training solutions, the company announced today at the Equip'Auto Show.

"We understand while training is of the utmost importance to our customers, sometimes fitting it in to their daily business takes creativity," said Gaël Escribe, vice president, independent aftermarket, Delphi Product & Service Solutions, EMEA. "The flexibility designed into our training system allows us to reach all of our customers throughout Europe, from the smallest countries to the largest, and in the method the customers prefer to fit their specific needs. We want to make it as simple as possible for our customers to receive Delphi's in-depth OE training on relevant technologies."

Delphi recently opened a new, state of the art, 30,000 sq-m training facility in Warwick, U.K. and will open another facility in Moscow later this year. Substantial upgrades to existing facilities in France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Turkey are also in process.

Additionally, Delphi has developed a new program called "Train the Trainer" where designated "trainers" at Delphi customer locations are educated so they can in turn train their staff and customers. By doing this Delphi is empowering its customers and creating a community of trainers in every country for ongoing collaboration.

Delphi also conducts individual training programs custom designed specifically for a customer in their own locale. This "on-territory" training uses a customized course at the customer location. These course programs can be up to five days and are designed to specifically address customer needs based on region, car parc and its related aftermarket demands. These courses are delivered in person by a highly qualified Delphi service operations engineer.

"A recent example of our customized training is the diesel training conducted in Sweden," said Mike Rayne, vice president, diesel, Delphi Product & Service Solutions. "With topics identified by the customer, local service operations and technical managers from distributors in Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia learned about new Delphi diesel technology growing in the Scandinavian region, as well as network development. The response to the custom training program was fantastic. It was rewarding to receive that kind of feedback."

Delphi's new "Train the Trainer" program supports the same adaptable philosophy. By sharing Delphi's extensive OE expertise with customer trainers in virtually every European country, the company provides value beyond training.

"The added business value comes from the empowerment our customers gain from the Delphi ‘Train the Trainer' program knowledge," said Paul Chaundy, business line director, service, Delphi Product & Service Solutions, EMEA. "Not only do we train our customers, but we empower them by providing information to train their own customers enabling downstream selling. Plus, members become part of a Delphi training community that meets face-to-face periodically, and remains connected year round to get training or technical updates and coaching from Delphi."

Serving as Delphi's Centers of Excellence, the new and upgraded training facilities throughout Europe include the latest test equipment. The modern facilities offer the capability to test common rail injectors with C3i coding and heavy duty E1 electronic unit injectors. They are all staffed by local-language speaking master level technician trainers and deliver Delphi's updated advanced technical courses, including its new Introduction to Hybrid Systems and Diesel Particulate Filter courses. Delphi, which continues to expand its course syllabus, also offers business-focused courses such as "Maximizing the Delphi Diesel Opportunity" and "Professional Customer Service."

"Delphi delivers OE technologies that work to keep vehicles safe, green and connected to more than 25 of the top global vehicle manufacturers," said Escribe. "As such, it's natural for our aftermarket customers to count on us for the best, most up-to-date parts and training programs, which we are committed to delivering throughout Europe."
