Young couple Matt and Scott have purchased their first home at Crest Nicholson's Dylon Works in Lower Sydenham, using the London Help to Buy scheme. The couple purchased the one bedroom apartment for £384,995, and moved in last month.

Using the government-backed London Help to Buy scheme, prospective buyers can secure their dream home with just a 5% deposit. In London's zone one to six, new buyers can apply for an equity loan of up to 40% of the property price.

'For us, the location was a huge selling point', notes Matt. 'The development is positioned directly opposite Lower Sydenham station, which has regular trains into central London, so it's perfect for getting around.' Matt is a Dancer, and Scott is an Actor, so the pair regularly travel into Soho and the West End for work, which can be easily reached from Dylon Works, with direct trains into London Bridge in just 15 minutes.

Prior to moving to Lower Sydenham, the couple were renting a small studio apartment in Archway, but decided the time was right to step onto the property ladder and gain some extra space. 'The London Help to Buy scheme was a huge help for us, we wouldn't have been able to purchase the flat without it', says Matt.

They looked around a number of developments in London when choosing their home, but were immediately struck by the high-quality finish of the apartment at Dylon Works, which far-outripped other developments they viewed. 'Our new home is far more spacious than many others we saw, which was a real selling point', Matt said. The couple were also impressed with the large private balcony the apartment offers, which provides them with some secluded outdoor space to enjoy. Each home at Dylon Works also comes with a private underground parking space, a rarity for a London development.

The couple also praised the Crest Nicholson sales team, who they say guided them through the Help to Buy scheme, which they had no prior knowledge of. 'It's been a straight forward buying experience', says Matt, 'the Crest Nicholson team have been brilliant too!'

Now that they're settled in their new home, the couple are eager to explore all that the local area has to offer, with the popular locations of Dulwich and Crystal Palace all within easy reach. 'Having previously lived in North London, we're really excited to come and explore this corner of South East London, which is full of exciting bars, restuarants and shops!' says Matt.

Homes at Dylon Works are still available to buy, with prices for a one-bedroom apartment starting at £379,995, or just £227,997 when purchased using the London Help to Buy scheme. To find out more information, call 020 3437 1262 or visit https://www.crestnicholson.com/dylonworks/
