Cosmos Insurance Public Company Ltd. reported interim management statement for the third quarter ended September 30, 2013. For the period, the company's profit attributable to shareholders stood at €674,000 compared to a loss of €265,000 in the corresponding period of 2012. The total net insurance revenues stood at €12.74 million compared to €12.77 million while the total net insurance expenses reached €11.07 million from €11.91 million compared to the corresponding period of 2012. Profit is attributable to the drop in administrative and selling expenses and the drop in loss from revaluation of investments. The total gross earned premiums for the first nine months of 2013 fell 11% to €16.88 million compared to €18.93 million in the corresponding period of 2012. This is mostly attributable to the ongoing recession, intensified after the Eurogroup, and the termination of the loss-making portfolios.

The group expects that 2013 will close with profit from insurance activities. There is a risk of increasing losses from the investment portfolio due to the ongoing recession. Also, for the same reasons, there is a risk of losses from the drop in the value of investment property.
