LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) Home and Networks Mobility business, the world leader in video solutions, today announced the Motorola Mover has been selected as an International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree. The Motorola Mover is a set-top accessory that enables consumers to securely put recorded subscription video content on mobile devices and is part of Motorola's Media Mobility solution product family.

The Motorola Mover connects to a DVR set-top with a secure IP connection and applies digital rights management (DRM) rules during the transfer of content. Once the content is transferred to the Mover, consumers can download it for on-the-go viewing--on a PC, personal media player or mobile phone without needing a network connection.

The Motorola Mover is one of many Motorola technology innovations that expand the personal media experience. The Motorola Mover can take either high-definition or standard-definition content and transcode it with MPEG-4 compression to the appropriate resolution, bit rate and video format for a consumer's mobile device. In addition, the Motorola Mover client application includes an easy-to-use navigation tool to find and select content for secure downloading to the mobile device, allowing subscribers to view the content they want wherever they go. Motorola is working with leading video service providers, including Comcast, to offer the Mover technology to subscribers.

"We're pleased that the Motorola Mover has been recognized as an Innovations honoree, and we're looking forward to extending our strong partnership with Comcast and working with them to make this award-winning solution even better for their customers," said John Burke, senior vice president and general manager, Broadband Home Solutions, Motorola Home & Networks Mobility. "Our extensive expertise in delivering advanced multimedia, video and mobility solutions, enables us to deliver to our customers and their subscribers next-generation, differentiating advanced time- and place-shifting mobile media experiences."

Mark Hess, Comcast senior vice president of digital TV, says, "Comcast and Motorola have a long history of working together to offer new and innovative services that make consumers' lives easier and offer them more choices. We congratulate Motorola on The Mover winning a CES Innovation Award and think this mobile media product is a terrific example of how Motorola's innovations align with our vision to provide our customers with the entertainment they love anytime, anywhere."

Motorola's Media Mobility solutions also include the Multi-Room DVR that's been showcased at prior CES shows and is widely deployed by Motorola video service provider customers. The Multi-Room DVR allows subscribers to control and access DVR content from any set-top in a subscriber's house, making the DVR more valuable to subscribers.

As an International CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree, the Motorola Mover was judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers and members of the media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting-edge consumer electronics products across 36 product categories. The Motorola Mover has been recognized in the Video Components category.

The Motorola Mover will be displayed at the 2010 International CES, which runs January 7-10 in Las Vegas. The Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase will feature honorees by product category in the Grand Lobby of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
