January 3, 2012, Taipei, Taiwan - China Airlines has won the International Trophy for most beautiful entry from outside the United States at the 123rd Rose Parade with "Spirit of Prosperity and Harmony" float. This marks the 21st time that China Airlines has won the top international prize at the annual New Year's festival held in Pasadena, California.

This year's parade theme "Just Imagine" represents the world of a child's imagination while also reflecting the achievable hopes and dreams of adults. Further inspired by "I Ching" philosophy, China Airlines designed its float with a flying dragon to herald the Year of the Dragon and wish for prosperity and harmony in the new year.

The "Spirit of Prosperity and Harmony" float was 55 feet long, 30 feet high and 18 feet wide, adorned by glistening, colorful scales to represent a vibrant imagination. The dragon's long torso and nimble wings signal the human thirst for freedom. We consider ourselves descendents of the dragon devoted to pioneering a new era, and the "Spirit of Prosperity and Harmony" float served to share this aspect of Chinese culture with a worldwide audience as it welcomed the Year of the Dragon.

During the parade, the dragon wagged its head and blew steam out of its mouth, while float ambassadors dressed in traditional costumes of the Han, Hakka, and Taiwanese aboriginal people waved to the cheering crowd. Broadcast worldwide and seen by millions of viewers, the "Spirit of Prosperity and Harmony" float expressed the pioneering spirit of China Airlines and the Taiwanese people.

China Airlines has participated in the Rose Parade for 26 consecutive years since 1987. This year, China Airlines once again collaborated with the R.O.C. Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Bureau on its parade float and activities to promote Taiwan's image in the international community. Cheered on by Chinese-American and overseas Chinese groups at the Rose Parade, the China Airlines float called for people around the world to visit Taiwan so they can experience Taiwan's vibrant culture and renowned hospitality.
