Campine NV Announces Consolidated Earnings Results for the Year Ended Dec. 31, 2017; Provides Investment Budget for 2018

Campine NV announced consolidated earnings results for the year ended Dec. 31, 2017. In 2017, Campine achieved a EUR 216.50 million turnover, compared with EUR 170.86 million in 2016, increased 27%. Higher volumes were realised in all Business Units. The EBIT reached EUR 12.62 million, an increase of 29% compared to the EUR 9.79 million (excl. EC fine) in 2016. The net result (excluding the EC fine) for the year reached EUR 7.01 million, compared with a profit of EUR 4.35 million (excluding the EC fine) in 2016, increased 61%. Result before tax (EBT) was EUR 10,887,000 against EUR 1,621,000 a year ago. Result before tax (EBT) excl. EC fine was EUR 10,887,000 against EUR 6,537,000 a year ago. The net result for the year reached EUR 7.01 million, compared with a profit of EUR 3.810 million a year ago. Result for the year (basic & diluted) was EUR 4.67 against EUR 2.54 a year ago. Result for the year (basic & diluted) excl. EC fine EUR 4.67 against EUR 2.90 a year ago. Result for the year attributable to equity holders of the parent was EUR 7,008,000 against EUR 3,810,000 a year ago. Revenue was EUR 216,501,000 against EUR 170,855,000 a year ago.
For 2018 the company has foreseen an investment budget of over EUR 7 million to allow capacity increases and productivity improvements.
Campine nv is a chemical group primarily organized around 2 families of products:
- lead (65% of net sales): primarily lead alloys and lead antimony made from lead residues taken from used batteries, cable leads, etc.;
- specialty chemicals (35%): antimony oxides and antimony trioxide granules for ignition of combustible materials (plastics, rubber, etc.) and for catalyzing polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and fire-retardant plastics intended for the automotive, electronic, and packaging industries, etc.
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Belgium (2.8%), Germany (36%), Switzerland (10.4%), France (5.8%), Italy (5.7%), Romania (3.4%), the Netherlands (3.2%), the United Kingdom (1%), Europe (8.7%), North America (14%), Asia (8.5%) and other (0.5%).
