AirportlinkM7 Traffic - December 2012

BrisConnections (ASX: BCS) today announced AirportlinkM7 traffic for December 2012. The traffic volumes for the month are provided below:

Commentary

This represented 31 days of which there were 10 weekend days, 19

business days and 2 public holidays (Christmas Day and Boxing Day). School holidays commenced on 14 December 2012 with private school holidays beginning in the weeks prior. There were 3 days of scheduled maintenance on AirportlinkM7 which impacted lane and sector availability including a full tunnel closure on the night of 3 December. The period had generally fine weather and there were no significant network disruptions that impacted AirportlinkM7 traffic.

During December 2012, ADT was 47,102 (previous period 53,313) and average weekday traffic was 52,246 (previous period 59,352). During this period, AirportlinkM7 was closed at night from 10pm to 5am either fully or partially for ongoing maintenance for 2 nights.

The impact of the festive season was marked. In the period up to and including Friday 21 December, ADT rose to 54,030 (up 3.7% on the first 21 days in November) and average weekday traffic increased to 60,056 (up 2.8% on first 15 weekday days in November).

December also saw the 10 millionth trip through AirportlinkM7. This landmark was achieved without significant incident and, to date, over 10.4 million trips have been undertaken without an accident since the tunnel opened on 24 July 2012.

In line with the announcement to the ASX on 24 July 2012, from 2013 traffic reporting will occur quarterly, with the next report expected in early April for the months of January, February and March 2013.
