Brinker International, Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended December 26, 2018. For the quarter, the company reported total revenue of $790.7 million against $766.4 million a year ago. Operating income was $49.6 million against $54.4 million a year ago. Net income was $32.0 million or $0.84 per basic share against $25.3 million or $0.55 per basic share a year ago. Diluted net income per share was $0.83 against $0.54 a year ago. Company sales of $761.5 million against $742.7 million a year ago.
For the six months, the company reported total revenue of $1,544.5 million against $1,505.8 million a year ago. Operating income was $96.5 million against $83.0 million a year ago. Net income was $58.4 million or $1.49 per basic share against $35.2 million or $0.74 per basic share a year ago. Diluted net income per share was $1.46 against $0.74 a year ago. Company sales of $1,489.8 million against $1,459.6 million a year ago.
The company now estimates earnings per diluted share, excluding special items, to be in the range of $3.75 to $3.95. Revenues for fiscal 2019 are now estimated to be 2.0% to 2.75% up compared to fiscal 2018, primarily driven by comparable restaurant sales for fiscal 2019 that are now are estimated to be up 1.75% to 2.5%.
