Boustead Holdings Berhad announced cessation of office of Tan Sri Abu Bakar Bin Abdullah, age 67 as Independent and Non Executive Director. Nationality: Malaysia. The date of change is June 16, 2022.

His qualifications include masters in International Studies from University of Denver, Colorado, USA and History from Universiti Malaya. Working experience and occupation includes YBhg. Tan Sri Abu Bakar was the Director General of the Public Services Department from July 2010 to June 2012.

He has over 30 years of experience in the public sector mainly in the area of administration and management. He started his career in September 1977 in the Ministry of International Trade & Industry as the Assistant Director of Domestic Trade Division. After returning from the USA, he was posted to the Ministry of Defence with a promotion to the position of Principal Assistant Secretary of the Armed Forces Council in 1988 and then transferred to the Development Division in year 2000.

In 2001, he was promoted to the Prime Ministers Department (PMD) as the Secretary of Federal Territories Development and Klang Valley Planning. Three years later, he became the Deputy Secretary General in the Federal Territories Ministry and then held the same position in the PMD in 2005. In July 2007, he was promoted to the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence.

His last position was the Chairman of Bank Simpanan Nasional for six years from 1 March 2013 to 28 February 2019.
