Industrial shares edged lower as mixed economic data gave little new indication of when the Fed will cut interest rates.

Boeing has been sanctioned by the National Transportation Safety Board after the company disclosed information not intended for public release about the 737 Max door plug investigation.

The NTSB said Boeing violated a party agreement by disclosing investigative information and giving an analysis of previously disclosed factual information during a Tuesday media briefing about quality improvements on its planes.

Madison Dearborn Partners has backed defense contractor Omni Federal to capitalize on the U.S. government's increased use of the private sector to help modernize its operations.

"The government needs to embrace technology to make their mission more efficient," said MDP Managing Director Matt Norton, who leads the Chicago-based firm's technology and government deals team. Technology will drive the future of military conflict, he added.
