WASHINGTON, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Boeing on Tuesday named Kirkland H. Donald, a retired Navy admiral, as the independent advisor to lead a comprehensive quality review of Boeing's quality management system for commercial airplanes.

Donald and a team of outside experts will provide recommendations to Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun and to the aerospace safety committee of Boeing's board of directors, Boeing said.
