WOODCLIFF LAKE (dpa-AFX) - Car manufacturer BMW has again sold more cars in the United States. In the second quarter, sales of BMW brand cars rose by 3.7 percent to 91,327 units, the company announced in Woodcliff Lake (New Jersey). In the first three months, the number of BMW cars sold had climbed by just over two percent to almost 84,500. Growth was once again driven by fully electric cars (BEV - battery electric vehicles).

BMW sold just over 14,000 BEVs in the United States in the three months to the end of June - almost a quarter more than a year ago and almost a third more than in the first quarter.

Sales of the small car brand Mini fell by 22 percent to 5,898 cars. BMW attributed the drop to a model change. BMW is converting Mini into an all-electric supplier./zb/men/mis
