From January 1, 2013, the engineering and services Group Bilfinger has restructured its activities in the Industrial segment. The segment now consists of two Subgroups: the activities of newly-founded Bilfinger Industrial Technologies based in Frankfurt, are focused on the design, engineering and construction of industrial plants. Bilfinger Industrial Services, located in Munich, primarily concentrates on optimization and maintenance as well as the conversion and expansion of industrial plants.

Together, the two Subgroups are capable of supporting industrial facilities over their entire lifecycles. "The restructuring enables us to enhance our profile as a provider of solutions by more intensively focusing the two Subgroups on their core competencies. This leads to a greater degree of specialization in areas such as methodology skills and the development of innovations", says Thomas Töpfer, Member of the Executive Board of Bilfinger SE. "We can now support our customers with more detailed knowledge in all key areas over the entire lifecycle of their plants."

With twelve operating companies, Industrial Technologies boasts an international network of specialists: approximately 8,000 employees including more than 4,000 engineers generate an output volume of more than €900 million. "Our international customers seek out our consulting and design expertise for the construction of their industrial plants and also commission us to execute the projects", says Gerhard Schmidt, CEO of Bilfinger Industrial Technologies.

As a longstanding partner of the industrial sector, Bilfinger Industrial Services has developed close ties to its customers on the basis of long-term framework agreements for the maintenance of plants for the process industry. The company generates an output volume of around €2.7 billion with approximately 30,000 employees. "We are the number one choice, particularly in the area of turnarounds", says Dr. Michael Herbermann, CEO of Bilfinger Industrial Services. "Internationally, we are increasingly positioning ourselves as a managing contractor that can take on overall responsibility from design to execution."

Bilfinger's Industrial segment is active around the world for customers in various industrial sectors including oil and gas, refineries, chemicals and petrochemicals, energy and environment, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, metallurgy and processing, as well as other industries such as consumer goods and pulp & paper. With an output volume of around €3.6 billion and approximately 38,000 employees, the Industrial segment is by far the largest segment in the Group. Approximately 80 operating companies offer customers in 33 countries an extensive range of services from design and fabrication through to full-service maintenance for industrial plants.
