January 2016 consumer survey

Consumer confidence drops slightly in January

After having risen for three consecutive months, the consumer confidence indicator weakened somewhat in January.

All in all, there was little change from last month's survey.

Although consumers revised their forecasts as to the overall economic situation in Belgium downward, their expectations as to unemployment developments over the next twelve months stabilised.

As regards their personal situation, households did not change their expectations about their financial situation and they anticipate a modest decline in their savings.
