AuthenTec (NASDAQ:AUTH), a leading provider of mobile and network security solutions, announced today that Lenovo is using its new generation smart fingerprint sensor solution to help provide faster time-to-productivity and time-to-connectivity with advanced security in multiple new Lenovo ThinkPad laptop PCs. AuthenTec's TCS5D smart sensor with TCD51 companion processor enhances user security and productivity through Lenovo's unique power-on authentication, allowing users to quickly boot or shift their ThinkPad laptop from sleep/standby mode directly to a PC application with a single swipe of a finger.

Power-on authentication eliminates typing or mistyping delays, forgotten passwords and other barriers to connecting and being productive, while providing secure automatic log-in through user fingerprint verification. This upgraded solution provides multiple performance enhancements to maximize usability within the broad range of environmental conditions and finger types used with ThinkPad laptops, and reduces boot and resume times. AuthenTec's TCS5D/TCD51 smart sensor chipset provides improved power-on authentication in upcoming Lenovo ThinkPad laptops. The TCS5D/TCD51 offers outstanding fingerprint biometric performance while accommodating fast swipe speeds. The TCS5D sensor is offered with an optional LED light guide enabling instantaneous user feedback during fingerprint authentication.

"Rapid, barrier-free connecting and computing is important to our notebook customers, and thanks to our close collaboration with AuthenTec, we offer power-on authentication as a quick and secure one-touch feature on many of our ThinkPad laptops," said Dilip Bhatia, vice president, ThinkPad Business Unit, Lenovo. "We believe that users will appreciate the convenience and security that AuthenTec's proven smart sensor brings to our newest ThinkPad lineup."

"AuthenTec is committed to delivering strong but effortless security to mobile and network devices, and we are proud to provide Lenovo's unique power-on authentication feature for ThinkPad," said Art Stewart, AuthenTec Vice President of Smart Sensor Solutions. "Lenovo shares our vision of enhancing the PC user experience, and we are pleased to be a part of their new ThinkPad family."

AuthenTec smart sensors also add convenience and security to select Lenovo ThinkPad Edge, K, B, V series models as well as select Lenovo IdeaPad laptops. More than 60 million notebook PCs and tablets have integrated AuthenTec smart sensors for enhanced user security, convenience and personalization. Complementing AuthenTec smart sensors is its TrueSuite® identity management software which will be shipping on millions of new notebooks in 2012.
