athenahealth was one of more than 400 companies to qualify for consideration, and only 80 companies selected, based on a two-stage nomination process and the results of employee-satisfaction surveys. Employees answered questions that addressed factors such as their pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement, and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. The results were analyzed and scored by assigning points to each question.
