Item 8.01. Other Events.

On January 7, 2020, Argan, Inc. ("Argan") issued a press release announcing that its wholly owned subsidiary, Gemma Power Systems, recently entered into an engineering, procurement and construction services contract with Harrison Power, LLC ("Harrison Power") to construct a 1,085 MW natural gas-fired power plant in Harrison County, Ohio. The project is being developed by EmberClear, the parent company of Harrison Power. Construction activities for the facility are scheduled to begin in 2020. Argan anticipates adding the value of this contract to project backlog closer to the project's expected start date.
