ArcelorMittal and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) are collaborating with D-CRBN, a climate technology company, to conduct industrial tests at ArcelorMittal's plant in Ghent, Belgium.

The partners are testing a new plasma technology developed by D-CRBN to convert captured carbon dioxide (CO2) into carbon monoxide (CO).

The initiative aims to reduce CO2 emissions and marks the first industrial use of D-CRBN's technology, making the ArcelorMittal Gent plant the first steelworks to adopt this process.

This plasma technology converts captured CO2 into CO, which is used in the production of steel and chemicals. The trial aims to reduce CO2 emissions and represents the first industrial use of this technology, making Gent the first steel mill in the world to adopt it.
