Malaysia's AirAsia seeks to rename company as Capital A

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - AirAsia Group Berhad has proposed changing its company name to Capital A Berhad, the operator of Malaysia's flagship budget airline said in a stock exchange filing on Monday.

The airline group said the proposed name was approved by the Companies Commission of Malaysia and is now subject to shareholders' approval at a general meeting to be convened at a date to be announced.

Capital A Berhad is an investment holding company with a portfolio of synergistic travel and lifestyle businesses. Its segments include Aviation, Teleport, Capital Aviation, Move Digital, and Capital A International and Others. The Aviation segment provides low-cost carrier services through AirAsia. The Teleport segment is an integrated logistics solutions provider. The Capital Aviation segment includes its engineering company Asia Digital Engineering (ADE), ground handling services Ground Team Red (GTR), food services company Santan, consulting business AirAsia Consulting, and its shared services center, DARTS.
