Air Asia Berhad plans to launch an Indian airline and seeking a joint venture partner for it. Air Asia will hold 49% in the venture. Air Asia is in preliminary talks with Videocon Industries Ltd. Venugopal Dhoot, Chairman of Videocon, confirmed the approaches from Air Asia.
Venugopal Dhoot, said, "They had approached us. These were preliminary discussions. There's nothing I can say now." Air Asia's spokesperson in Malaysia declined to respond to an Economic Times query on the matter.
