AgStar Fertilizers PLC reported unaudited group and company earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended December 31, 2012. For the quarter, on group basis, the company reported revenues of LKR 576.11 million, profit before tax of LKR 110.88 million, profit attributable to equity holders of the company of LKR 106.74 million or LKR 0.33 per basic and diluted share compared to the revenues of LKR 466.03 million, profit before tax of LKR 113.15 million, profit attributable to equity holders of the company of LKR 86.78 million or LKR 0.27 per basic and diluted share for the same quarter year ago.
For the nine months period, on group basis, the company reported revenues of LKR 1,311.63 million, profit before tax of LKR 246.42 million, profit attributable to equity holders of the company of LKR 231.78 million or LKR 0.71 per basic and diluted share compared to the revenues of LKR 1,465.01 million, profit before tax of LKR 249.61 million, profit attributable to equity holders of the company of LKR 216.05 million or LKR 0.66 per basic and diluted share for the same period year ago. Net cash ash used in operating activities was LKR 48.67 million compared to the LKR 659.10 million for the same period year ago.
For the quarter, on company basis, the company reported revenues of LKR 383.22 million, profit before tax of LKR 88.77 million, profit attributable to equity holders of the company of LKR 84.62 million or LKR 0.26 per basic and diluted share compared to the revenues of LKR 296.44 million, profit before tax of LKR 96.29 million, profit attributable to equity holders of the company of LKR 70.77 million or LKR 0.22 per basic and diluted share for the same quarter year ago.
For the nine months period, on company basis, the company reported revenues of LKR 994.04 million, profit before tax of LKR 305.12 million, profit attributable to equity holders of the company of LKR 290.63 million or LKR 0.89 per basic and diluted share compared to the revenues of LKR 1,083.72 million, profit before tax of LKR 200.14 million, profit attributable to equity holders of the company of LKR 169.89 million or LKR 0.52 per basic and diluted share for the same period year ago. Net cash generated from operating activities was LKR 182.00 million compared to the net cash used in operating activities of LKR 593.32 million for the same period year ago.
AgStar PLC is a Sri Lanka-based company that is engaged in the business of importing, blending and marketing of fertilizer products and agricultural machineries. Its segments include trading and non-trading. The trading segment includes items that are directly imported and sold without further processing. The non-trading segment includes items that are further processed before being sold. Its products include seeds, fertilizer, CropCare, pharma and agricultural technology (Agri Tech). The Company exports Ceylon tea, cinnamon, coconut, and tropical fruits. It produces and markets paddy seeds, other field crop seeds and vegetable seeds. Its organic fertilizers include Organic Compost, Fertilizer Compost and Bio Compost. Its crop-based fertilizers include tea fertilizer and fruit fertilizer mixtures. Its CropCare products include Allwin top, Netcote and Micro-Paddy. The Company has partnered with four brands that provide solutions to animal nutrition: NOREL, Lallemand, Perstorp and Kerry.
