Aerohive Networks™ (NYSE: HIVE), a cloud-management leader, today announced Anima Group, one of Brazil’s largest private higher education organizations, has chosen Aerohive to provide the cloud-managed wireless solution for its high-density environment.

Anima Group operates in the education segment of Brazil with over 100 thousand students enrolled across many campuses, including four universities with campuses in Sao Paulo, Minas, Parana, Santa Catarina, and Goias. Anima, in operation for 16 years with over 4,000 employees, has been expanding for many years and using different wireless solutions at each campus, which were all managed separately. As student BYOD increased on campus, Anima needed to unify their network so all campus locations could be managed together without the need for onsite hardware at each. The solution they chose had to be affordable, support and work well with the variety of devices (iPads, Android, Chromebooks, Mac and Windows laptops) brought to school, and also able to handle a simultaneous heavy client load.

During a Proof of Concept (PoC), Anima Group discovered that Aerohive was simple to install, easy to configure and stress free to manage, especially compared to their prior solution.

“The main reasons for choosing Aerohive Networks were the cloud-managed architecture, centralized management and the simplicity of network deployment,” said Diego Arcanjo Lopes, IT operations manager, Anima Group. “We were able to accomplish all of our goals without relying on on-site controllers, which was really a huge differentiator compared to other solutions.”

They were impressed with Aerohive’s ability to hold up even under the heaviest of client loads, while providing invaluable insights, powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), into the health status of clients inside HiveManager. Aerohive’s dual 5 GHz access points provided Anima’s students and staff with maximum capacity, while also limiting co-channel interference.

After a successful PoC, Anima Group elected to proceed with installing Aerohive across all of its campuses, implementing a mixture of products from Aerohive’s 802.11ax access point portfolio. Using the HiveManager® local-cloud platform for its on-premises deployment, Anima can onboard, manage and monitor all 1,100 access points from a single-web interface. With competing solutions, they would have been forced to deploy onsite controllers at each individual campus. The entire rollout took 60 days, from placing the shipment to mounting and configuring access points to building the network policies.

With their network up and efficiently running, Anima is able to support students, teachers and faculty and are 100-percent Wi-Fi based across all campuses. In the future, Anima Group is considering moving its network management to HiveManager Public Cloud to enjoy even more cost savings and simplicity.
