Aerodrom Ljubljana dd : Transavia launches new route from Ljubljana to Amsterdam

The Summer Timetable 2017 brings a great novelty for passengers of Ljubljana Airport. Transavia, the Dutch low cost airline now offers three weekly direct flights between Ljubljana and Amsterdam. Their first plane landed at Ljubljana Airport on the 4th of April.

Transavia, the low cost airline part of the Air France / KLM Group, now offers three weekly direct flights between Ljubljana and Amsterdam. At the request of many within the travel industry, Transavia decided to add Ljubljana to her network of scheduled flights, the airline explains. The first flight landed at Ljubljana on the 4th of April. It was accompanied by a symbolic water salute from the airport's firefighting vehicles and the passengers and the crew were surprised with sweet cake pops in Transavia colors.

Anita Sunter, Spokesperson at Transavia declares: 'We are very glad to offer scheduled services 3 days a week between Ljubljana and Amsterdam. It is a pleasure to welcome Slovenian people on board and offer passengers an attractive price. We believe very strongly in this route which we want to retain and grow further in the future.'

The airline will be flying to Ljubljana with Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats. Tickets from Ljubljana to Amsterdam are already offered for the fare of 35€ (depending on availability, one-way fares, incl. booking and payments fees) and can be booked via the website www.transavia.com, or their call center ([phone]).

Bart Twaalfhoven, Netherlands Ambassador to Slovenia: »Good relations between countries can only be strengthened by excellent and frequent communication. Therefore, I am happy that the Dutch low cost carrier Transavia will start flying three times per week directly between Amsterdam and Ljubljana. Great business opportunities and exciting city trips can't be missed anymore.'

Janez Krašnja, MsC, Head of Airline Management at Aerodrom Ljubljana, welcomed the opening of the new connection with following words: »The Netherlands is an attractive market for Slovene travellers and we are very happy to offer an additional, low cost connection of Transavia to Amsterdam. The Dutch capital is a lively tourist destination and at the same time a great gateway for onward travels, especially within the flight network of group Air France KLM, which Transavia is part of. We anticipate that the new connection will also attract additional Dutch tourists to Slovenia, which is more and more tempting as a safe, active and green destination. It is expected that this service will generate at least 25,000 extra passengers until end of 2017.'

During the launch of new connection to Amsterdam Ljubljana Airport is marked by a touch of Holland. We have surprised passengers of the first arriving and departing flight with cake pops in Transavia colours, and welcomed the crew with a bouquet of tulips. In the first floor of the terminal special scenery is arousing the first impression and anticipation of their final destination among passengers - bicycles, decorated with traditional Holland clogs and baskets full of tulips are reminding and inviting them to discover Holland. The new flights to Amsterdam are communicated to passengers and visitors on airport advertising surfaces and soon the news will also spread online through a prize winning quiz.
