Ricardo-AEA's Jamie Pitcairn will be speaking about resource efficiency in the workplace at the Base Glasgow conference in Scotland on November 13th 2012.

Base Glasgow, being held at the city's Royal Concert Hall, will focus on Glasgow's transformation to a low-carbon economy. It is closely aligned to the Sustainable Glasgow initiative under which Glasgow aims to reduce its carbon emissions by 30% and become one of Europe's most sustainable cities within 10 years.

The event aims to bring together many cross-cutting themes that will be integral to Glasgow's transformation to a low-carbon built environment. A range of sectors will be covered, including construction, property, transport, energy and waste, together with integrating and enabling activities - most notably applied information and communications, and new materials technologies, financial services and investment.

Speakers include Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone.

Jamie will be representing Ricardo-AEA's resource efficiency and waste management team at the 'Waste = Resource' workshop, managed by The Resource Forum. He will explore the challenges of moving Scotland up waste up the hierarchy to meet the needs of the circular economy and the Zero Waste Plan for Scotland.

Jamie is Ricardo-AEA's regional director for Scotland and has over 12 years commercial experience of managing national and regional government environmental and waste programmes. He is a technical specialist in waste and waste minimisation and over the last year was a member of the peer review group supporting the development of the new Waste (Scotland 2012) Regulations.

Jamie is a chartered member of the CIWM and chairs the Institute's strategy group on business waste in Scotland.
