Acuity Brands, Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended November 30, 2017. For the quarter, the company's net sales were $842.8 million compared with $851.2 million a year ago. Operating profit was $118.6 million compared with $126.6 million a year ago. Income before provision for income taxes was $110.9 million compared with $126.3 million a year ago. Net income was $71.5 million or $1.70 per diluted share compared with $81.7 million or $1.86 per diluted share a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was $139.8 million compared with $55.8 million a year ago. Purchases of property, plant, and equipment were $10.3 million compared with $19.5 million a year ago. Adjusted operating profit (Non-GAAP) was $133.9 million compared with $143.2 million a year ago. Adjusted net income (Non-GAAP) was $81.5 million or $1.94 diluted per share compared with $87.8 million or $2.00 diluted per share a year ago.
