(Alliance News) - Acea Spa announced Friday that its subsidiary Areti, a company that handles electricity distribution in Rome, and Wiener Netze, a company that manages the grid in the city of Vienna, have signed an important collaboration agreement on innovation and digitalization issues.

Areti and Wiener Netze, which already collaborate in the framework of some European initiatives, will now cooperate on projects with high technological value such as second-generation Smart Meters, flexibility market management and Smart Grid.

"Thanks to this agreement," said Areti CEO. Giulio Carone - it will be possible to develop synergies between the respective competencies with the aim of modernizing and digitizing the networks to achieve increasingly advanced management processes of the electricity infrastructure serving the two cities. Experience and technical and operational solutions will be pooled for the benefit of an even more efficient service for the citizens of the two capitals."

During the visit to the Primary Cabin, the peculiarities of plant and grid management in a city such as Rome characterized by well-known archaeological, artistic and urban planning constraints were illustrated, highlighting the similarities existing with the city of Vienna and bringing as an example of integration between technology and history precisely the primary cabin of Castro Pretorio, rich in archaeological finds.

Acea's stock is down 4.1 percent at EUR16.05 per share.
