(Alliance News) - UK gross domestic product is estimated to have increased by 0.2% in the second quarter of the year, the Office for National Statistics said on Friday.

According to a second estimate from the ONS, UK GDP increased 0.2% against the prior quarter in April to June. This was unchanged from an earlier estimate.

Meanwhile, GDP in the first quarter of the year was upwardly revised to a quarter-on-quarter increase of 0.3%, from a previous estimate of a 0.1% increase.

Separately, the ONS reported that the underlying current account deficit excluding precious metals increased by GBP7.1 billion to GBP28.5 billion in the second quarter of the year.
