(Alliance News) - UK Oil & Gas PLC on Friday said it has "finally" sourced larger and more powerful 7-inch perforating guns, following the temporary suspension of Pinarova-1 testing operations in Turkey.

The London-based exploration and production company focused on UK and Turkey said the new perforating guns are capable of fully penetrating Pinarova-1's 9.6-inch casing and cement and that they are available for import into Turkey.

UKOG said it was working closely with the Pinarova-1 operator Aladdin Middle East to facilitate delivery to the site "as soon as possible" so testing operations can restart.

In late May, UKOG said downhole pressure gauge data showed that the original 4.5-inch perforating guns, the only size guns available in-country, did not establish direct contact with the formation.

As a result, tests to date did not assess the potential of the zones associated with the 12 hours of strong crude oil odour and oil at surface, as reported in early May.

UKOG holds a 50% non-operated interest in Pinarova-1 and the surrounding 305 square kilometre Resan licence, which also includes the Basur-1 light oil discovery, currently undeveloped.

Shares in UKOG rose 4.4% to 0.036 pence each in London on Friday afternoon.
