WASHINGTON, January 23, 2014 - World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim will visit Myanmar from January 26 to 27, to reaffirm the Bank Group's support for Myanmar's reforms and discuss ways to take  transformative action to improve energy and health access for all the people. 

His visit marks the first to the country by a Bank Group president. 

"Myanmar and the World Bank Group share a common commitment to ending poverty and building shared prosperity, and I am encouraged by how the international community has come together to support dramatic reforms," said President Kim."I look forward to exploring opportunities to accelerate our work together to deliver better services for the people, especially in energy and health." 

During his visit, Kim will meet with Myanmar President U Thein Sein and other officials, present the keynote speech at the Myanmar Development Cooperation Forum and visit a township hospital. 

Kim will also hold a press conference on January 27 in Nay Pyi Taw.
