UNECA United Nations Economic Commission for Afr : ECA to host launch of 2014 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report on 4 February

Addis Ababa, 26 January 2015 (ECA) - On Wednesday, 4 February 2015 The UN Economic Commission for Africa will host the Launch of the 2014 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, as one of 80 organizations in 60 cities and 50 countries around the world.

The official Global Launch took place at the UN Headquarters in New York, on Thursday, 22 January.

The Global Go To Think Tank Index ranks the world's leading think tanks in a variety of categories, drawing on a panel of over 1,900 peer institutions and experts from the print and electronic media, academia, public and private donor institutions, and governments around the world. It has been issued annually since 2006, as an initiative of the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Programme (TTSCP) of the University of Pennsylvania. TTSCP's goal is to increase the profile and performance of think tanks and raise the public awareness of the important role think tanks play in governments and civil societies around the globe. The Index is used by academics, journalists, donors and the public to locate and connect with the leading centres of public policy research around the world.

The Addis Ababa launch will take place on Wednesday, 4 February 2015 from 09:30 to 12:30 at the United Nations Conference Centre in Addis Ababa, Conference Room 4. It will feature a panel discussion on The role of Think Tanks in the policy making process, and will be attended by Think Tank representatives, academics and university students, the donor and diplomatic community, and UN and Government officials. Representatives of the Media are also encouraged to attend the event.
