Industry Minister Jesse Norman today (9 January 2017) visited the London Boat Show to see for himself the success of our marine and maritime industry. On the day British Marine released figures showing the UK's leisure marine industry growing for the fifth consecutive year, Jesse Norman chaired a roundtable with leading industry figures to hear their plans for the future.

On the 63rd anniversary of the Boat Show, the minister toured the event which is hosting over 300 exhibitors with nearly 400 boats on show.

After the visit, Industry Minister Jesse Norman said:

The UK maritime sector is an important industry for the UK, adding over £11 billion to the UK economy and I was delighted to visit the show and see for myself the success of our marine and maritime businesses.

The UK has a world class reputation for building high quality boats, from warships to superyachts, and as we develop a comprehensive Industrial Strategy we will continue to work with industries from across the UK to further upgrade productivity, create high skilled jobs, and ensure sustainable economic growth.
