In a statement on messaging app Telegram, Greene accused Twitter of being quote "an enemy to America," adding that social media platforms "can't stop the truth from being spread far and wide."

The Republican congresswoman from Georgia has previously faced short-term suspensions from Twitter over tweets which violated the platform's COVID-19 misinformation policy.

At least two other Republican members of the House have been temporarily suspended from Twitter.

Greene is a controversial figure who apologized last June for comparing mask mandates and vaccinations to the Holocaust.

Her official congressional account remains active on Twitter with nearly 400,000 followers.
