Canadian stocks pushed higher Thursday mid-trading with most sectors lifting indexes. In the session, only materials sector was lower, while technology and energy led the gainers. Shares in Rogers Communications Inc. rose after it reported that revenue and adjusted earnings beat analyst expectations in its fourth quarter.

At midday, Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was up 0.64% at 20727.67. The blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 was up 0.67% at 1261.38.

Rogers Communications shares rose 2.6% to C$63.42 after reporting revenue of C$3.92 billion, up from C$3.68 billion. Analysts expected revenue of C$3.86 billion. Adjusted earnings were C$0.96 a share, ahead of expectations of C$0.95 a share.


Other market movers:

Exro Technologies Inc. fell 23% to C$1.48 after the company said it has raised C$15 million on a bought deal basis with its underwriters.

Shares in Stelco Holdings Inc. were 9.8% higher at C$36.43 after it said it expects to take up and pay for around C$164.3 million worth of shares. The company had offered to purchase up to C$250 million in value of its outstanding common shares from holders for cash.
