Thompson Hine LLP announced today that Timothy J. McCarthy and Louis M. Solomon have joined the firm’s Business Litigation practice in New York. They join from Mishcon de Reya New York LLP and Haynes and Boone LLP, respectively.

“Tim and Lou are fantastic additions to our New York office,” said Todd E. Mason, partner-in-charge of the firm’s New York location. “Their proven track record first-chairing high-stakes litigation will strengthen both our New York office and the firm’s overall litigation practice. They are both excellent litigation strategists with outstanding technical skills, and we are thrilled to have them join Thompson Hine.”

McCarthy contests disputes across a broad range of subject matter areas and jurisdictions, and focuses on cross-border cases before American courts and international arbitral tribunals. He represents U.S. and international banks, funds and investment managers, Fortune 500 and international companies, closely held concerns, and individual investors and executives in financial and investment disputes, commercial cases, securities and accounting fraud matters, insolvency proceedings and executive employment matters. His clients and cases have spanned over 20 countries, and he has had particular experience in disputes involving Islamic finance and investment transactions. McCarthy has also represented and defended U.S. and international corporate clients, as well as individual clients, in white collar criminal proceedings, internal investigations and regulatory enforcement matters, and he has extensive experience with innovative dispute funding strategies. Of his decision to join the firm, McCarthy said, “Thompson Hine has an established and growing international disputes practice, and I look forward to helping build both the practice and its profile. I was also impressed by the firm’s international recognition for innovation in service delivery and its focus on predictability and efficiency.”

Solomon represents clients in various complex commercial matters including actions involving senior and subordinated debt, disputes involving closely held corporations and partnerships, intellectual property disputes, securities fraud cases and breach of contract actions for clients in various industries. He has also represented individuals and corporations in connection with government and internal investigations, and he has litigated numerous fraud cases on behalf of banks and brokerages. Solomon has extensive experience in arbitrations and mediations before various tribunals, including the AAA, the ICC and the ICDR, and he has been included on the New York Super Lawyers® list (Thomson Reuters) from 2012-2015.

“Thompson Hine’s focus on value and efficiency in litigation, in addition to the number of sophisticated litigators, was a major attraction,” said Solomon. “I was particularly impressed with the firm’s innovative SmartPaTH® program, which was recently recognized as the number one new working model by The Financial Times. I know my clients will benefit from its various elements, in particular the focus on legal project management.”
