TVMDL Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Labora : Ferro recipient of the 2017 Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence for Diagnostic Services

Dr. Pam Ferro, Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) Microbiology Branch Chief, was recently awarded the 2017 Vice Chancellor's Award in Excellence for Diagnostic Services.

In 1991, Dr. Ferro joined TVMDL as a Technical Assistant II. Over the course of her tenure with TVMDL, she has worked her way up to her current role of Microbiology Branch Chief. As branch chief, she oversees the Virology, Molecular Diagnostics, Serology, and Bacteriology sections.

Her passion for virology is evident in her years of experience and application of her extensive knowledge of both modern and classical virology techniques. Throughout her career, Dr. Ferro has evolved into a highly respected diagnostic virologist. Her positive reputation knows no borders and has led to collaboration with scientists and researchers across the Texas A&M University campus and the United States.

In addition to her collaborative efforts, Dr. Ferro has proven to be a successful leader through her management of almost half of TVMDL's testing sections at the College Station laboratory. Additionally, her infectious, positive attitude and dedication to success has led her to becoming an avian influenza virus specialist - an area in which her expertise is frequently sought.

Dr. Ferro's commitment to serving clients and providing to the highest quality of testing makes her an invaluable asset to TVMDL.'

The Vice Chancellor's Award in Excellence is the highest award given by Texas A&M AgriLife. Recipients are recognized for their outstanding achievements and current and sustained productivity.
