The total numbers of house sales for selected districts covered by house sales statistics have been disseminated in the Central Dissemination System (MEDAS) monthly since 2015. House sales numbers for selected districts will be published statistical tables section with the mortgaged-other sales and first-second hand sales details at the end of every year since 2016. In Turkey, 1 289 320 houses were sold in 2015

In Turkey, house sales increased by 10.6% in 2015 compared to the previous year. For the house sales of 2015, İstanbul had the highest share (18.6%) of house sales with 239 767 sold house. The followers of Istanbul were Ankara with 146 537 (11.4%) house sales and İzmir 77 796 (6%) house sales. The least house sold province is Hakkari with 139 house sales. In Turkey, 434 388 of all sales were mortgaged sales and 854 932 are other house sales.

In December 2015, 142 599 houses were sold in Turkey

In Turkey, house sales increased by 5.9% in December 2015 compared to the same month of the previous year and hence, became 142 599. For the house sales of December 2015, İstanbul had the highest share (18.7%) of house sales with 26 595 sold house. The followers of Istanbul were Ankara with 16 046 (11.3%) house sales and İzmir 8 345 (5.9%) house sales. The least house sold provinces were Hakkari with 13 house sales, Şırnak with 15 house sales, Ardahan with 20 house sales.

In December 2015, 40 283 ownership of the houses changed by mortgage sales

The mortgaged house sales throughout Turkey became 40 283 by decreasing 6.6% compared to the same month of the previous year. House sales with mortgage had a 28.2% share of all house sales in Turkey. Most of house sales with mortgage was in İstanbul with 8 826 sales. İstanbul was the first province in Turkey ranking that has most house sales with mortgage share with 21.9%. Mortgaged house sales had the highest share in Ardahan with 55% of all house sales.

Ownership of 102 316 houses changed by other sales

Other house sales in Turkey became 102 316 by increasing 11.8% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the other sales, İstanbul was the first province with 17 769 sales and 17.4% share. Other house sales had 66.8% share of all house sales in Istanbul. Ankara was the second province with 10 611 sales. Ankara was followed by İzmir with 5 861 sales. The least other house sales was realized in Ardahan with 9 house sales.

In house sales, 74 032 of houses were sold for the first time

First house sales in Turkey became 74 032 by increasing 12.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. First house sales had 51.9% share of all house sales in Turkey. The most first house sales was in İstanbul with 13 625 sales. İstanbul was the first province in Turkey ranking that had most first house sales share with 18.4%. The followers of İstanbul were Ankara with 8 031 house sales and İzmir with 3 695 house sales.

Ownership of 68 567 houses changed by second hand sales

Second hand house sales in Turkey became 68 567 by decreasing 0.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. In the second hand sales, İstanbul was the first province again with 12 970 sales and 18.9% share. Share of the second hand sales was 48.8% in İstanbul in total house sales. Ankara was the second province with 8 015 sales and Ankara was followed by İzmir with 4 650 sales.

In Turkey, 22 830 houses were sold to foreigners in 2015

House sales to foreigners increased by 20.4% in 2015 compared to the previous year. In house sales to foreigners, İstanbul was the first province with 7 493 sales in 2015. Antalya was the second province with 6 072 sales. Antalya was followed by Bursa with 1 501 sales and Yalova with 1 425 sales.

In December 2015, 2 283 houses were sold to foreigners. İstanbul was the first province with 977 sales in December 2015. The followers of İstanbul were Antalya with 460 house sales, Bursa with 139 house sales and Yalova with 118 house sales.

Most house sales were made to Iraqi citizens according to country nationalities

Iraqi citizens bought 4 228 houses from Turkey in 2015. The followers of Iraq were Saudi Arabia with 2_704 house sales, Kuwait with 2 130 house sales, Russia with 2 036 house sales and England with 1_054 house sales.

In December, Iraqi citizens bought 512 houses from Turkey. The followers of Iraq were Saudi Arabia with 258 house sales, Kuwait with 209 house sales, Russia with 150 house sales.

In Turkey, 774 874 men and 382 237 women became the owner of house in 2015

While 774 874 (60.1%) houses were bought by men and 382 237 (29.6%) houses were bought by women, 29 708 (2.3%) houses were bought jointly by women and men in general of Turkey. İstanbul ranked the first in terms of the number of houses purchased by women with 67 960 and 17.8% share in Turkey. While men bought 141 011 houses in İstanbul, 7 871 houses were bought by men and women jointly. The lowest number of houses sold to women was in Hakkari with 28 sales while Hakkari had the lowest number of houses sold to men with 110 sales.
