Retail trade turnover growth in November 2012

Real turnover growth of 2.9%

Neuchâtel, 16.01.2013 (FSO) - According to provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO), real turnover in the retail sector adjusted for sales days and holidays rose by 2.9% in November 2012 compared with November 2011 (in nominal terms +1.5%). Real, seasonally adjusted turnover in the retail sector rose by 0.5% in November 2012 compared with October 2012 (in nominal terms +0.2%).


Year-on-year change (excluding fuel)
Year-on-year in November 2012, the retail sector adjusted for sales days and holidays showed an increase in real turnover of 2.6% compared with November 2011 (in nominal terms +1.3%). Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered an increase in real turnover of 2.1% (in nominal terms +3.1%).The non-food sector registered positive growth of 2.4% (in nominal terms stagnation at 0%).

Month-on-month change (excluding fuel)
Compared with the previous month, the retail sector excluding fuel in November 2012 showed a minimal seasonally adjusted increase in real turnover of 0.1% (in nominal terms +0.1%). Retail sales of food, drinks and tobacco registered a real increase in turnover of 0.3% (in nominal terms +0.3%). The non-food sector showed a slight rise of 0.2% (in nominal terms stagnation at 0%).
