School choice supporters in North Omaha will talk to friends and neighbors about educational options during National School Choice Week.

Community leaders have been knocking on doors in their neighborhoods to encourage families to come out for a breakfast rally at the Bryan Center, 2417 Grant Street, on Thursday, January 26, at 8:30 a.m. The Bryan Center kickoff will feature community leaders as well as parents, students, and teachers, hundreds of whom will then get on buses and head to the School Choice Week rally in Lincoln later that morning.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness among the community about the power of educational opportunity. The celebration is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week (January 22-28, 2017), which will feature more than 21,000 events across the country.

“National School Choice Week is the perfect time to reach out to our friends and neighbors with the message of hope that educational options provides,” said Ean Mikale of Infinite 8 Institute. “In a 21st century of customization, truly individualized education is the next great frontier.”

Event planners include the Infinite 8 Institute.

Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through more than 21,000 independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
