Vienna,2018-01-17 - The inflation rate amounted to +2.2% in December 2017 (November: +2.3%), as Statistics Austria reports. Lower price dynamics for heating oil and fuels in December were mainly responsible for the decline compared to the annual inflation in November. Expenditures for housing, water, energy proved to be the most important price driver, followed by food and beverages. The index level of the consumer price index 2015 (CPI 2015) was 104.3 in December. Compared to the previous month, the average price level increased by 0.4%.

The index level of the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP 2015) was 104.94 in December. The harmonised inflation rate amounted to +2.3% (November: +2.4%).
