Consumer price inflation remained constant at +2.8% (HICP +2.9%) in December 2012

V i e n n a , 2013-01-16 - The annual inflation rate of the consumer price index measured by Statistics Austria was 2.8% in December 2012 and thus remained the same for the third month in a row. The consumption divisions "food and non alcoholic beverages" and "housing, water and energy" accounted for more than two-fifth of the inflation. Food prices increased noticeable again (+4.9%; November +3.6%). The price increase for mineral oil products declined to +2.0% and had only a small impact on the inflation this month. Without food products the inflation rate would have been only
2.3%, without mineral products 2.7%. The all item index (CPI 2010) stood at 107.2 in December. Compared to November the average price level increased by 0.2%.
The annual inflation rate in terms of the harmonized index of consumer prices was 2.9% in December
(November 2.9%, October 2.9%), reaching an index level (HICP 2005) of 118.05. For more detailed information please refer to the German version
