Industrial production index (IPI) increased by 12,6 % in November 2013, compared with November 2012 as a result of a growth in manufacturing by 14,6 %, in mining and quarrying by 3,1 %. The volume of production in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning did not change.

The increase of the total industrial production was mainly affected by the growth in manufacture of transport equipment by 15,4 %, manufacture of electrical equipment by 84,1 %, manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 19,4 %, manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 17,3 % and other manufacture, repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 10,6 %. The volume of production was reduced in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 44,7 %, manufacture of food, beverages and tobacco products by 3,7 %, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 6,9 % and in manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 1,8 %.

In terms of the main industrial groupings, production of intermediate goods rose by 21,8 %, production of durable consumer goods by 19,4 %, production of investment goods by 11,9 % and production of non-durable consumer goods by 1,4 %. Production related to energy was lower by 0,7 %.

After seasonality adjustment, industrial production grew by 1,9 % in November 2013, compared with October 2013.

On average, over the first eleven months of 2013, IPI increased by 4,6 %, year-on-year, of which in manufacturing by 5,7 %. Production was lower in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply by 2 %, in mining and quarrying by 1,9 %.

The total increase of industrial production was affected mostly by a growth in manufacture of electrical equipment by 42,1 %, manufacture of transport equipment by 5,6 %, manufacture of basic metal and fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment by 8,4 %, manufacture of textiles, apparel, leather and related products by 25,7 % and in manufacture of rubber and plastic products and other non-metallic mineral products by 5,6 %. Production dropped the most significantly in manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations by 43,4 %, manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products by 1,7 % and in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products by 3,5 %.

In terms of the main industrial groupings, production of intermediate goods rose by 9,5 %, production of durable consumer goods by 5,4 %, production of investment goods by 3,9 % and production of non-durable consumer goods by 2,1 %. Only production related to energy fell by 2,1 %.

Note: Industrial production index represents volume production changes in its natural expression. Data are adjusted from the influence of the number of working days by programme DEMETRA and during processing of every month they are back-casted from the beginning of the time series. In November 2013, the number of working days was lower by one day compared with the corresponding period of 2012 and also since the beginning of the year.
