The Director of Income Tax is pleased to report that the Personal Income Tax Return Prize Draw has taken place and three lucky people (out of over 8,500 people that filed their 2011 return by the filing deadline of 30 November 2012) have won cash prizes totalling £5,000.

The winners are Mr Jake Salmon, Mr Andrew Falla and Miss Evelyn Hughes.

Mr Salmon said he thought that "Filing online is much more convenient, quick and very easy to use. I would recommend online completion of returns over paper any day".

The prize draw has been funded by a reduction in postage and printing costs in 2012 from taxpayers who previously filed online opting out of receiving a paper return, and also by reduced scanning and processing costs (usually incurred on receipt of a paper return) with over 11,500 returns filed online in 2012. The increase in numbers of taxpayers filing online has also enabled the reduction of one processing post within the Income Tax Office and it is anticipated that there will be further savings from the increased use of online filing in 2013.

The prize draw will be repeated again this year; to be in with a chance of winning, the Director would encourage those who did not submit their returns on-line during 2012 to consider doing so in 2013.
